Nigel, a baker, chef and barista, started Food 4 Films, now Food 4 Festivals, in 2015, following 35 years owning and running businesses in the foodservice sector. In his early 20s, after studying Business and Finance at college, he realised food was his passion, and set up a bakery, which soon became a group of 5 retail shops, including a busy city centre deli. His areas of expertise, as well as all kinds of outside catering, include wedding catering, farmers' markets, running a guest house, and even developing a large wholesale company, which focussed entirely on promoting and supplying artisan food and drink from the West Country. "The events industry gives me the variety and opportunities to develop and grow as a chef and business-owner. I love it", says Nige.
As for Steve, his career started with a four year classical training at Boodle’s Club in London’s West End He then spent 4 years in Spain, 3 years working under Spanish celebrity chef Alberto Chicote and 1 year as the Head Chef at Club La Costa 5* resort on the Costa Del Sol. In 2001, having gained a passion for travel, he started working on cruise ships and by 2011 was promoted to Executive Chef of the Mariner of the Seas, a luxury Royal Caribbean Cruise ship, managing a team of 150 chefs, a food budget of $1m a month and serving around 14,000 meals a day across 12 restaurants. In 2014 he returned to the UK and relocated to Cornwall, where he started working as a freelance chef. It was by chance that he met Nigel in 2018, with their first job together being MTV Crashes in Plymouth. "Within a few months I was delighted to join the business as a partner; definitely a wise move!"
